NASHVILLE, Tenn. – INFINITI is pleased to return to the annual Pebble Beach™ Automotive Week and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance® weekend this year with several exciting activities paying homage to the automaker's Japanese heritage.
JAPANESE AUTOMOTIVE INVITATIONAL (JAI)
INFINITI and MotorTrend will team up once again to showcase the best and brightest Japanese vehicles on August 18-21 within the Concours Village. MotorTrend's Japanese Automotive Invitational presented by INFINITI will be open Thursday to Saturday between 9 AM and 6 PM and on Concours Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM.
Visitors will experience the rich innovation, and performance-driven design of Japanese vehicles. This year's Invitational will feature 17 historically significant Japanese cars within several categories including: Concept Cars, "Kei" and Small Cars, Luxury Sedans, Sports Cars, Coupes/Hatchbacks, and Trucks/Utilities.
During the Japanese Automotive Invitational, INFINITI will display the iconic 2003 FX45. The INFINITI FX arguably became the first "performance crossover" and was part of an unprecedented program of new product introductions combining aggressive styling, outstanding performance and handling, and luxury car comfort and amenities in a truly breakthrough design. This FX is believed to be an original INFINITI press vehicle and featured in numerous auto enthusiast publications. It is currently owned by former INFINITI designer, Julien Thiebaud, who last worked on the unique "piano key" taillights of the recently introduced QX55 crossover coupe, which itself was inspired by the original FX.
Continuing its long-standing tradition of elegant design, the 2022 INFINITI QX60 will also be on display. Designed to help owners take on life in style, the 2022 QX60 includes standard leather-appointed seats in the first two rows, a 12.3-inch INFINITI InTouch touchscreen infotainment system including wireless Apple CarPlay® and USB-based Android Auto™ compatibility, panoramic moonroof and a power liftgate.
"A QUIET GREATNESS" BOOK PREVIEW
Co-authors of "A Quiet Greatness – Japan's Most Astonishing Automobiles for the Collector and Enthusiast," Mark Brinker and Myron Vernis, will be hosting a preview reception for their new book on Japanese cars Thursday, August 18 from 3 PM to 7 PM at MotorTrend's Japanese Automotive Invitational.
In the works for five years, this boxed set consists of four volumes and a supplement with 1,400 pages and 2,200 images with art direction by the incomparable Richard Baron. "A Quiet Greatness" is packed with historic details and written for car collectors and enthusiasts alike.
