- INFINITI is strategically placed for growth
- Expanded product portfolio and powertrain options
- Significantly growing global manufacturing footprint
Hong Kong/Geneva – INFINITI is seeing results from its decisive steps to strengthen its brand presence and globalize its business.
Based in INFINITI's global headquarters in Hong Kong, the experienced management team comprising leading multinational executives from stand-out automotive and luxury goods brands have been leading INFINITI's growth around the world.
The growth plan is underpinned by a commitment to offer product alternatives for a new generation of young-minded premium customers and to defy the conventions set by the brands currently dominating the premium segment.
INFINITI had a record-breaking 2014 with global sales of more than 186,200 vehicles, up 13.5 percent from the previous year. The company reached all-time high results in 19 markets around the world last year, becoming one of the fastest growing premium brands in a number of key regions and markets such as China, West Europe, the Middle East and Mexico.
A strong product lineup remains at the core of the sales growth. The Q50 sports sedan was introduced in many markets around the world last year and became INFINITI's top-selling product. It won many accolades from respected organizations globally especially in the area of innovative technologies.
The momentum continues with INFINITI introducing the new Q70L and QX80 models at the New York Auto Show last April. Also, the long-wheelbase versions of Q50 and QX50 are now available in China and are the first INFINITI models produced in the country.
Keeping up the pace, INFINITI signaled intentions to move into the challenging premium sedan category at the Paris Motor Show in October. INFINITI premiered its vision with a full-size Q80 Inspiration four-door fastback, which was widely lauded by international media.
The company also introduced its Q60 Concept, INFINITI's take on a captivating two-door premium sports coupe, at Detroit earlier this year.
Next up is the Q30, INFINITI's premium compact entry for global markets, to be launched this year. It will also be INFINITI's first vehicle built in Europe.
The expanded portfolio is supported by a dedicated network of global design studios, with new facilities opened in Beijing and London last year.
INFINITI's sales and portfolio growth is mirrored by a significant expansion of its global manufacturing footprint, with China and the United Kingdom joining production sites in Japan and the United States. It also started engine production at the INFINITI Powertrain Plant in Decherd, Tennessee, in the U.S. in June last year. With the plan to start production in Mexico in 2017, INFINITI will extend its manufacturing footprint to five countries on three continents in the next few years.
The powertrain options are being extended also with the recent addition of a turbocharged two-liter gasoline engine for the Q50. Already available to Chinese and European customers, the new gasoline variant is being made available in other markets.
Leveraging strategic alliances such as that with Daimler AG will lead to collaboration on advanced research and development of key future technologies and their applications.
The vision for INFINITI is clear: to produce a range of vehicles defined by emotive design, meticulous attention to detail, unsurpassed hospitality and intuitive technology.
