HONG KONG – In a move to drive further growth in Asia and Oceania, INFINITI today named Allen Lu the new Managing Director, Asia & Oceania Operations for INFINITI, effective May 1. Lu has been Managing Director of INFINITI China since 2010. In this newly created position, Lu will be responsible for managing INFINITI's business and its expansion plans in all other countries in Asia & Oceania.
During the last three years, Lu has laid the foundation for INFINITI's future growth in China.
Last weekend at the Shanghai Auto Show, the company announced local production of two models that are specifically designed for the Chinese market. Strengthening the importance of this market to INFINITI, the long-wheelbase versions of the INFINITI Q50 and QX50 premium vehicles will be built at the Xiangyang plant through INFINITI's joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Company Ltd. as of 2014. INFINITI plans to expand its retail network in China by more than 30% in the course of this year.
"Allen has successfully laid the groundwork for us in China," said Johan de Nysschen, President of INFINITI Motor Company Ltd. "He is now moving into a new role based at INFINITI's global headquarters in Hong Kong. In this position, he will build upon his vast experience and capitalize on the growth opportunities that exist for INFINITI in the premium segment of the Asia & Oceania markets."
Lu has more than 15 years of automotive experience from leadership positions with Ford, GM, and Ferrari before he joined INFINITI China in 2010. INFINITI is currently operating in eight countries in the Asia & Oceania region and plans to increase this number going forward.
