FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Seeing the world differently is often considered a prerequisite for invention. Before you can change the world, you need a unique vision. A unique vision is also a way to describe INFINITI's Backup Collision Intervention (BCI) system, a world's first technology recently introduced on the all-new 2013 INFINITI JX 7-passenger luxury crossover and today selected to Popular Science magazine's prestigious "2012 Best of What's New" list. The winners, presented across 12 categories, are listed in the December issue of the magazine and include 100 top tech innovations that represent a significant leap in their areas.

With the Backup Collision Intervention technology, when the transmission is in reverse, the INFINITI JX will help the driver detect crossing vehicles and objects behind the JX, and, if necessary, the system can automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision.

INFINITI Backup Collision Intervention System

"The new 2013 INFINITI JX continues INFINITI's tradition of developing world's first technologies that enhance our owners' everyday lives, with the Backup Collision Intervention system leading the way," said INFINITI Americas Vice President Ben Poore. "The system can detect vehicles approaching from either side when you back up. If a vehicle appears to be entering your path, it provides three layers of warning - visual, audio and gas pedal force feedback - and ultimately can apply brake pressure to help you avoid a collision if you don't take action yourself."

A short video presentation on the BCI system is available at: http://www.infinitiusa.com/jx/key-features/?intcmp=Key_Features.JX.Home.T1.#feature=backup_collision_intervention

The breakthrough INFINITI JX design also offers excellent legroom in all three rows and ample cargo room behind the 3rd row - with an innovative multi-mode middle seat design providing entry to the 3rd row without removing a 2nd row child seat.

Among the other advanced technology systems that INFINITI is proud to offer today -and that are offered on the 2013 JX - are INFINITI Connection telematics system with Google CalendarTM, Drive Zone/Speed Alert and INFINITI Personal Assistant; Around View™ Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD); Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP); Blind Spot Intervention™ (BSI) system; Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range); Distance Control Assist (DCA); Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW); Active Trace Control; Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts; and a Bose® Cabin Surround® 15-speaker sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and Acoustic Waveguide subwoofer.
