As the flagship of INFINITI's bold, wide-ranging SUV lineup – which includes the highly advanced QX50 mid-size luxury crossover and family oriented QX60 – the QX80 offers a powerful, contemporary and commanding presence. The QX80 is a powerful, full-size SUV created with an inclusive luxury mindset, offering premier amenities for every passenger.

Redesigned just two years ago, the QX80 has been a popular choice for luxury buyers in North America. For the 2020 model year, QX80 LUXE receives a new generation INFINITI InTouchTM System with HD twin screen display, revised center stack and center console, new 7-inch TFT meter display, new Charcoal Burl interior trim, standard Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM, two new exterior paint colors, and standard Lane Departure Warning, Backup Collision Intervention and Blind Spot Warning.

In addition, a new EDITION 30 Package celebrates INFINITI's 30th anniversary in the United States, includes 22-inch dark forged aluminum-alloy wheels with black center caps and 275/50R22 all-season tires; black mesh grille; dark chrome grille surround, front fascia trim, fender vents and tailgate finisher; black mirror caps; EDITION 30 headliner; graphite headliner, sunvisors, sun shade and pillars; and 1st row illuminated stainless steel kickplates.

The QX80 LIMITED again includes exclusive content, such as custom dark machine-finished 22-inch wheels, matte silver open-pore Ash wood trim and satin chrome elements.

Commanding exterior design
The 2020 QX80 continues the bold interpretation of INFINITI's Powerful Elegance design language with unmistakable INFINITI signature design elements. It features a commanding presence with powerful muscularity, enhanced horizontal movement and iconic double-arch grille and signature headlamps.

At 210.2 inches in length, 75.8 inches tall with roof rails, 79.9 inches wide and a 121.1-inch wheelbase, the QX80 exterior incorporates geometric and organic shapes to combine power with elegance. Yet despite its scale, the design communicates a clear sense of elegance and human artistry.

The QX80 features clearly defined character lines, and a purposeful front end with large, functional fender vents. The headlamps wrap around the front corners of the hood and into the fenders. As they taper, the lamps lead into a strong, straight shoulder line that runs from the grille all the way to the rear. Paired with upright air vents aft of the front wheel arches, these geometric lines convey muscular, almost architectural statement in profile.

The rear exhibits simple, clearly defined details designed to raise the visual center of gravity. With sharp, thin taillights, straight character lines for bodywork and light units, and a raised lower bumper section, the QX80 appears wider, taller and more athletic than its predecessor.

The QX80 also features the brand's human-eye headlamps, which employ triple light guide technology to offer maximum lighting and visibility from every angle. Automatic on/off LED headlights with High Beam Assist are standard, as are LED fog lights. Adaptive Front lighting System and headlight washers are also available (standard on LIMITED model). At the rear of the vehicle, the slim, sharp combination taillights echo the headlamp shape and employ LED technology.

Another INFINITI signature, the crescent-cut D-pillar lies parallel with the roofline. Like the shoulder line, the elegant design of the D-pillar enhances the horizontal aspect of the QX80's upper body. Every 2020 QX80 also includes standard power liftgate and power sliding glass moonroof with one-touch open/close.

With a drag co-efficient of 0.367 Cd – competitive with the most aerodynamic designs in the segment – the QX80 features a range of modifications to better direct air over, around and under the vehicle. INFINITI has applied its zero-lift approach, maximizing stability at higher speeds. The body also enhances air flow, particularly off the rear, to minimize drag-inducing turbulence. These changes reduce the effects of wind turbulence at higher speeds, leaving the driver feeling more in-control with the road.

QX80 LUXE models come equipped with cast 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, finished in dark silver paint and are wrapped in 275/60R20 H-rated all-season performance tires. Forged 22-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with low-profile 275/50R22 all-season performance tires are optionally available. The QX80 LIMITED features unique 22-inch dark-finished forged aluminum-alloy wheels. These wheels are also offered as part of the EDITION 30 Package.

The QX80 LIMITED adds exclusive exterior treatments (versus the QX80 LUXE), including stainless steel running board caps, INFINITI logo under running board welcome lighting, satin chrome exterior trim, satin chrome roof rails and cross bars, unique front and rear bumper lower finishers and LIMITED rear hatch emblem.

The QX80 is available in nine solid, metallic and pearlescent paint finishes – New Coulis Red (premium color) and Mineral Black (premium color), plus Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow, Hermosa Blue, Black Obsidian, Champagne Quartz (premium color), Moonstone White (premium color), and Anthracite Gray (premium color), which is exclusively available with the QX80 LIMITED model. Each color is hand-polished and inspected by INFINITI's Takumi master craftsmen for maximum depth, shine and luster.

Upscale interior luxury
The high-quality, handcrafted 2020 QX80 interior is one of the most luxurious, highest-quality passenger compartments created by INFINITI to date. Finely tailored and crafted by hand, there is an enhanced human artistry throughout the large, roomy cabin, providing a sense of upscale luxury. Advanced technologies and refinement measures enhance the driving experience and provide ambience driver and passengers alike.
 
The QX80's roominess, matched with luxury style, makes it capable of transporting up to eight adults and their belongings. The interior cabin offers a comfortable space and personal controls for every occupant. It features standard 7-passenger seating capacity, with 8-passenger capacity available.

Every QX80 comes with a standard 10-way power driver's seat, including 2-way power lumbar support, along with an 8-way power passenger's seat, including 2-way power lumbar support.  Heated front seats are standard on LUXE models, with heated and cooled front seats standard on the QX80 LIMITED. A comfortable 2nd row captain's chairs with tip-up easy entry for 3rd row and a power 60/40-split fold-flat and reclining 3rd row bench seat complete the seating. For QX80 owners desiring 8-passenger seating, a 60/40 split 2nd row bench seat is available. Leather-appointed seating is standard for all three rows and available semi-aniline leather appointments with color-contrast piping.

The QX80 is offered with Wheat or Graphite upholstery, available in standard leather or premium semi-aniline leather. Wheat semi-aniline leather is finished with dark gray stitching and piping; Graphite models are contrasted with medium gray stitching and piping.

A premium Saddle Brown leather color, coupled with black contrast stitching and piping, is offered with the optional Sensory Package. The LIMITED model features a Graphite/Stone interior with two-tone semi-aniline leather and Alcantara® seats, Ultrasuede headliner and matte silver open pore Ash wood accents.

A variety of interior trims are available. In addition to the standard Charcoal Burl gloss wood trim, models with the Sensory Package Graphite leather are offered with a Charcoal Burl with gradation.

INFINITI's InTouch infotainment system has been revised for 2020, including a new generation design with twin screens – 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower, both WXGA LCD touch screens. The system allows drivers to personalize driving characteristics and the cabin environment. Adjusted via the touchscreen, the intuitive system is controlled with multi-touch smartphone controls and voice control, as well as physical buttons beneath the screen and on the steering wheel. Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM are standard on all 2020 QX80 models.

Paired with the QX80's smart key, INFINITI's InTouch system memorizes more than 200 settings for two drivers, including customized settings for navigation, seat positions, audio, safety systems, climate control presets and configuration of the infotainment system. The car automatically adjusts when it detects each smart key.

The system offers full smartphone connectivity and telematics support, depending on market. This enables owners to control elements of the car remotely, and access a range of other support functions. Other features include Remote Engine Start¹, enabling drivers to start the engine and heat or cool the cabin before getting in; and Remote Horn and Lights, enabling drivers to control the car's horn and lights via their phone – useful if the driver is unable to remember their car's location in a large parking lot.

All models come equipped with INFINITI Navigation System with Lane Guidance and 3D building graphics.

Other connectivity and telematics features include breakdown calls; stolen vehicle tracking and theft notifications; curfew alerts; maintenance alerts and vehicle health reports; and route planning with Google Send to Car and operator-assisted destination settings.

The standard Bose® Premium Sound System features 13 speakers, including two subwoofers. A Bose® Performance Series Audio System with 17 speakers is offered as part of the Sensory Package and standard on the QX80 LIMITED.

The 2020 QX80's available rear entertainment system features large, high-resolution screens that provide the interface for connectivity and entertainment devices. The 8.0-inch screens in the backs of the front seats offer 960 x 540-pixel resolution, 16:9 screen ratio to support super-resolution imaging, and Ultra Resolution Technology.

Passengers in the front have comprehensive control of the entertainment system. Front-row passengers can use the Remote Control Lock function – accessed through the dashboard or steering wheel – to lock the rear-seat remote control. In addition, front-seat occupants can turn displays on or off, switch between different inputs remotely, select which audio sources are used, and play or pause content. An All Mute button also enables the driver or front passenger to mute every audio source in the cabin, including headphones.

Premium level storage spaces are found throughout the QX80 interior. In the front, the center console features a large smartphone storage area, able to accommodate mobile devices up to 2.9 inches in width. The twin cup holders in the front accommodate two 44oz cups with handles.

The storage area beneath the front passenger armrest, at 9.4 inches in height, can now hold up to three upright 1.0-liter bottles. The space is shaped to accommodate tablet devices stood vertically.

All doors feature storage areas for bottles and other items, with the second-row center console providing further spaces to hold mobile devices and other valuables.

Cargo capacity measures 49.6 cu ft when the third row of seats is folded down. This provides sufficient space to store four large suitcases, four golf bags, or a baby-stroller stored lengthways, without impairing rear visibility for the driver. With all three rows of seats in place, the trunk offers 16.6 cubic feet of storage capacity, enough to store a pair of full-sized suitcases upright.

The 2020 QX80 is also available with the advanced Smart Rear View Mirror. The digital mirror allows the driver to use the rear-view mirror as a standard mirror, or turn it into a monitor at the flip of a switch. In the latter mode, it displays video from a camera mounted in the upper rear windshield. This enables drivers to be able to see behind the car even when the rear window is blocked by passengers or cargo.

The Smart Rear View Mirror² can also improve visibility, with a High Definition Resolution display combining two images into one, like a smartphone camera, at 60 frames-per-second. It can enable

a clearer view behind the car with a wide-angle lens providing full visibility to the rear. Compared to a conventional rear-view mirror, with a 19- to 20-degree viewing angle through the car and out of the rear glass, the QX80's Smart Rear View Mirror offers up to a 48.1-degree view.

Empowering performance and advanced technologies
Both QX80 LUXE and QX80 LIMITED models come standard with an advanced 5.6-liter DOHC V8 engine, delivering ample on-road performance. Combining the combustion efficiency of Direct Injection Gasoline, and the responsive acceleration of VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology, the V8 engine produces 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is matched with a smooth-shifting 7-speed automatic transmission featuring Adaptive Shift Control and manual shift mode with Downshift Rev Matching.

In two-wheel drive configuration, the 2020 QX80's fuel economy is rated at 14 mpg city, 20 mpg highway and 16 mpg combined. Four-wheel drive variants are capable of 13 mpg city, 19 mpg highway and 15 mpg combined.

The QX80 is again available with two-wheel drive or INFINITI All-Mode 4WD, the latter enabling four-wheel traction when conditions dictate it, and off-road capability when the driver demands it. With optimal all-season power delivery, the rear-biased drivetrain defaults to rear-wheel drive, continually adjusting power distribution between front and rear axles.

Drivers can customize the four-wheel drive system via a dial in the center console. The system sits in auto mode by default, using a computer-controlled transfer case to instantly redistribute engine torque to the wheels with the most traction. Permanent high- and low-range four-wheel drive settings are also available. The high-range setting is designed to take on moderate off-road driving and snow; the low-range function empowers drivers to tackle more demanding off-road conditions, with steeper inclines and declines, when more traction is needed.

The four-wheel drive system is backed up by the four-wheel Active Brake Limited Slip system, which responds to wheel-spin by automatically applying brakes to each spinning wheel, and assists in redistributing torque to other wheels to maximize traction and control.

The QX80's fully independent double-wishbone suspension, with Dual-Flow Path® twin-tube shock absorbers, offers a taut yet comfort-oriented ride, with the suspension engineered to filter out poor road conditions and keep occupants comfortable. Whether at cruising speeds, on busy urban roads, or on a winding highway, the QX80 remains composed at all times.

In addition, the QX80's unique available Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) technology limits excess body-roll under more severe cornering. It is optional on LUXE models with the ProACTIVE package and standard on the QX80 LIMITED.

HBMC monitors body lean and roll as the QX80 turns into a corner, and adjusts the suspension to create a smooth, flat ride. Hydraulic cylinders are connected to the shock absorber, and linked to one another with high-pressure hydraulic channels.

Two accumulators monitor body roll and adjust suspension stiffness on each side of the car by transferring oil between the hydraulic cylinders. As the car corners and the body starts to lean, HBMC firms up the suspension on one side of the car to counter this effect.

The QX80's standard Rear Auto-Leveling Suspension automatically adjusts suspension pressure to maintain an optimum ride height with cargo in the trunk or a trailer on tow. This allows the QX80 to tow up to 8,500 lbs, and carry up to 95.1 cu ft of interior cargo volume with third- and second-row seats folded. By keeping the vehicle at an optimal height, the QX80 can remain stable and continues to offer responsible handling and braking, improving driver confidence when towing or carrying heavier loads.

Stopping is provided by large 4-wheel disc brakes. Two steering systems are offered – engine-speed sensitive power-assist on LUXE and vehicle-speed-sensitive power-assist on LIMITED (optionally available on LUXE with ProACTIVE package).

The 2020 QX80 is available with a range of technologies that help inform drivers of their surroundings, help them avoid potential hazards and ease the stress of driving in certain conditions.

The QX80's extensive suite of advance technology systems includes standard Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Predictive Forward Collision Warning. For 2020, Blind Spot Warning, Land Departure Warning and Backup Collision Intervention have been added to the list of standard features.

Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection³ provides audio and visual display warnings to help alert the driver of a potential frontal collision and help reduce speed if necessary. If a collision is unavoidable, the feature can engage the brakes to help reduce both the speed of the impact and the severity of the collision. The system is also designed to help avoid or mitigate frontal collisions with pedestrians, using a camera-based system to recognize human shapes.

The Predictive Forward Collision Warning⁴ system helps warn the driver of risks that can lie beyond the driver's forward field of vision. It not only can sense the relative velocity and distance of a vehicle directly ahead, but also of a vehicle travelling in front of the preceding one.

Also available on LUXE models and standard on LIMITED are Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention and Distance Control Assist.

The QX80's standard Around View® Monitor⁵ with Moving Object Detection includes front and rear Sonar. Around View® Monitor utilizes four small superwide-angle cameras – mounted on the front, side and rear of the QX80 – to provide a virtual composite 360° view of objects around the vehicle, helping the driver maneuver it in tight spots. The MOD function helps enhance the driver's situational awareness by providing visual and audible warnings (front or back range object detection) if the system detects moving objects within the displayed view.
