- Sight and sound of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype set for Goodwood Hill
- The 3.8-liter, V6 twin-turbo 568-hp Q50 Eau Rouge to be piloted by key members of INFINITI Red Bull Racing
HONG KONG – The powerful INFINITI Q50 Eau Rouge prototype will enjoy its first dynamic public appearance this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking place from June 27 to 29 in West Sussex, England.
The Q50 Eau Rouge Prototype is set to entertain the crowds attending this year's festival as it roars past with its powerful twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine running at full throttle in the hands of Christian Horner, INFINITI Red Bull Racing Team Principal and Sebastian Buemi, INFINITI Red Bull Racing's Test and Reserve Driver.
Sebastian Buemi will also be available on the INFINITI hospitality stand for a question and answer session regarding the Formula One season so far and what we can expect going forward.
The Q50 Eau Rouge started life as a static design concept revealed at the Detroit motor show earlier in the year but has since been shown at the Geneva motor show with its thoroughbred V6 engine installed. In April, during the Beijing motor show, INFINITI announced it has reached a further step forward towards a production version with a full working prototype now undergoing tests and evaluation.
It is this full working prototype that will power up the hill at Goodwood. The INFINITI Q50 Eau Rouge prototype will be displayed in between its performance runs at the "First Glance" area close to the start line where guests can get up close and personal with the INFINITI concept.
The most powerful INFINITI ever has not been confirmed for production, but INFINITI will continue to listen to feedback from potential customers.
Goodwood Festival of Speed
Held in the grounds of Goodwood House, an elegant and historic country residence nestling amid England’s picturesque South Downs, the Goodwood Festival provides the startling sight of racing cars charging through its bucolic grounds – the house’s driveway turned into a dramatic, challenging and rather beautiful hillclimb venue.
Racing cars and Goodwood have been synonymous for decades, the first motorsport event occurring in 1936 when the ninth Duke of Richmond organized a hill climb through the house’s grounds. World War II brought this pursuit to a close, but also saw the construction of a nearby airfield whose perimeter road would eventually be turned into the famous Goodwood circuit.
The first race was held in 1948 and the last in 1966. When Charles Gordon-Lennox, the current Earl of March and a major car enthusiast, was prevented from reviving races at the circuit, he decided to stage his own Festival of speed in the grounds of Goodwood House.
The first event attracted 30,000 visitors, and it now draws 180,000, many considering it the finest motoring event in Britain.
Besides the hill climb, there is also a concours d’elegance, a pavilion of concept cars, a technical exhibits of the future, an air display, events for younger visitors, and much more. A highlight of the event remains the paddock where fans can stand mere inches from some of the most famous racing cars in history and, better still, meet their drivers.
The 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from June 26 to June 29.
